  1. I found this the other day in my paperwork and it just touches my heart about why horses are so incredibly fantastic for girls growing up.

Parents this should without a doubt point you in the right direction with your horse decisions.

    >> My daughter turned sixteen years old today; which is a milestone for most people. Besides looking at baby photos and childhood trinkets with her, I took time to reflect on the young woman my daughter had become and the choices she would face in the future.
  2. Please note that this advice relies on you knowing how to lunge a horse properly and safely and with the correct hore gear and personal attire.

For some people they are dealing with a number of factors such as lack of horse training experience, naughty undisciplined horses or just having troubles with a particular thing with their horse.

    - Trouble float loading
    - Doesn't like spray
    - Won't stand still
    - Fizzy
    - Trouble while riding and unable to get a win in the saddle to push through the problem (going sideways, backing up, raring, pigrooting, bucking etc)

Obviously there are many many ways to deal with all these items and seeking professional assistance is definitely one of them but I am going to give you one simple piece of advice:
    - Lunge and make your horse work hard when they are really bad.
  3. There are so many aspects and reasons why we lunge a horse but the most important item I feel is if your horse has not had regular work and you want to ensure additional safety when riding (depending on the type of horse) OR you do not know the horse ALWAYS:
    - do the girth firm but not too tight
    - lunge a little bit
    - do the girth up tight enough to ride
    - ensure your horse is untied and STRETCH the horses leg forward to remove any pinching where a horse can have reason to buck.  Some horses LOVE this and they will put weight on your hand and want to put their front leg down out in front of them then lean back on their hind legs and stretch out completely.

  4. What do you think a horse would be saying when we go do silly things such as dressing them up in all sorts of weird things.  A party hat for example!

I think horses have feelings, can express themselves very well and definitely talk to us about the situation at hand.
Cascade in this photo had just tasted the salty water on our Perth roadtrip at the Nullabor and was not very keen on it

Bella in the top photo for example would have put her ears back if she wasn't happy, would not have stood still and would not have posed for the photo.
  5. So why would you think a road trip across Australia with your horse could be a great discussion topic!  In many many ways......

From Qld to Tamworth to Broken Hill, the Nullabor to Perth WA

Having horses in your life brings you so many great experiences, a best friend forever and an amazing sense of freedom.  Horse life from child hood, teenager years with a companion at your side you have so much responsibility and love for, friends in different towns and states from team competition that you have for life and a sport you can enjoy with all ages forever.
